Cornerstones Sticky with Grape Jelly: The Power of Covenant

In a classic “Peanuts” cartoon, Charlie Brown is marveling at his hands and all they can accomplish. Lucy peers over and quips, “They’ve got jelly on them.”  Charlie and Lucy are both right!  We start by recognizing that our hands are covered with jelly, and they always will be. But they are what we have and they are amazing instruments for building and sustaining community.  In this sermon introducing an “All In” initiative, we’ll explore how our hands, sticky with the grape jelly of covenant can establish the cornerstones of a meaningful and engaged life for ourselves, our families, and for Beacon.  Rev. Robin Landerman Zucker, preaching with Worship Associate Linda Ochi and  music from Jason Drahos and Austin Shaw.  Committee/Team “fair” after the service.

Come to the Post-Service Gatherings at 11 am to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, connect, share joys and sorrows, and reflect on the service. These will be held in person, in the backyard of the church so that we may remove our masks.

In addition, CartUUns will be starting this week in Religious Exploration! Bring your K-5th grader in to explore ideas and values through the short films of Disney and Pixar. This week we will be watching and talking about the short “Partysaurus Rex,” with a theme “there is a time and place for everything.”

After the service our Junior High Religious Exploration program will take place on Zoom. They will be watching and discussing the themes in an episode of The Simpsons. Check out the weekly e-news on our website for the Zoom link!
